Signs you have a problem

• Rows or clusters of itchy bites that appear overnight
• Small rust-coloured spots on sheets, seams or the mattress edge
• Tiny black specks along the headboard, bed frame joints or box spring
• Shed skins or pale eggs in the seam of a mattress or sofa
• A sweet, musty odour in a heavily infested bedroom

Why it happens

Bed bugs travel in luggage, second-hand furniture and shared laundry. They have nothing to do with how clean a home is, which is worth saying plainly, because most people in most homes who call us have spent a week assuming otherwise.

The part people underestimate

Retail sprays scatter a population into adjacent rooms and make the infestation harder to finish. Partial treatment is usually worse than none.

How we handle it

Identify the species, remove what is inside, seal every way in, then clean up what was left behind. That last pair of steps is what separates a fix from a delay, and it is included in the quoted price rather than added afterwards.
